The rosette in our sampling shack in between stations. The CTD is mounted near the bottom of the frame in the centre. The grey Niskin bottles are then mounted in a circle around it.

When preparing the rosette for deployment, the Niskins are cocked open. The two end caps are connected by a spring on the inside, and a leash on the outside. The leash is tightened and stretched to connect to the rosette’s central carousel of latches. When the signal is sent to fire the Niskin, the latch is released, and the spring snaps the end caps shut, trapping the water.
