One of the five engines used to push the Louis through ice.  Although we have been mostly using two engines so far on this trip with the easy ice, in fact it might take the Louis more, perhaps even five itself, to push its way home through the Northwest Passage after it drops off the supernumeries on Oct 18 in Kugluktuk.

Michiyo Yamamoto-Kawai studies water samples taken from the rosette to determine where the fresh water in the Beaufort is from. She can study the isotopes of a particular sample and can tell if it is river water or sea ice melt.
