Top panel shows that sea ice extent in the Arctic Ocean (region between 65˚N and the North Pole) is decreasing from 10.5 million square kilometers in the 1950s to approximately 7.8 million square kilometers in the 2010s. Bottom panel illustrates that the areal transport of sea ice in Fram Strait is approximately 10% of the annual ice extent area.
