Happy Hollow School is a fourth through sixth grade building located in West Lafayette, and is adjacent to Purdue University. We are part of the West Lafayette Community School Corporation with an enrollment of 480 students. Our upper middle-class urban community provides us with families who are well-educated professionals. Parents are strong supporters of education and have high expectations for their children’s achievements. Happy Hollow School has a very active parent Parent Council. This body serves as the liaison between staff and parents and spearheads most of the ways the school, parents, and community communicate and interact. The result is an environment where Happy Hollow is well-equipped, class sizes are reasonable, and students are expected to learn. Happy Hollow’s staff strongly believes that the success of our school can be measured in many ways. Happy Hollow prides itself in the many opportunities students have to explore and succeed. Students in all grade levels, including students who are physically or emotionally handicapped, learning-disabled, or slow learners, utilize these facilities. The integration of technology into the curriculum at all levels is a high priority in our school. Approximately 94% of the students have a computer with Internet access in their home. Teachers recognize technology as a powerful tool for individualizing, extending, and enhancing student learning. Students have the opportunity to use technological resources to acquire, analyze, create, and communicate knowledge. The staff provides ample interaction for students with emerging technologies, so they can adapt to tomorrow’s advances. In this way students learn to become discriminate and effective managers of information. | ||||||||||||||||||
