R/V Oceanus Scientific Equipment

Winches & Wire

Oceanus is outfitted with two permanently installed oceanographic winches used to lower scientific instrumentation over the side.

Cranes & Overside Handling

Oceanus is fitted with a single Allied Marine Model TB 60-65 hydraulic marine crane.

Boats

An Avon rigid-hull inflatable boat (RIB) is carried on the 02 Deck.

Scientific Instrumentation

The National Science Foundation (NSF) Shipboard Technician Grant provides support for a suite of scientific instrumentation available for use aboard WHOI vessels.

Navigation Equipment

The vessel is outfitted with a full suite of navigational equipment as required by regulation and as dictated by its principal scientific missions.
