This page lists the existing and proposed marine protected areas that include deep-sea hydrothermal vents.

Marine Protected Areas
Endeavour Hydrothermal Vents, Juan de Fuca Ridge
Status: MPA as of 2003

Lucky Strike, Menez Gwen, and Rainbow Hydrothermal Vents, Mid-Atlantic Ridge
These three vent sites, plus the D. Joao de Castro Seamount, are reported by Portugal to the OSPAR Network of Marine Protected Areas.  Also, note: OSPAR 2008 agreed to seek to establish an OSPAR MPA for the Charlie Gibbs Fracture Zone on the Mid Atlantic Ridge.

Marianas Trench Marine National Monument
This MPA was designated in Jan. 2009 and includes hydrothermal vents of the Mariana arc in the western Pacific.

Guaymas Basin

High Seas, Mid-Atlantic Ridge
The World Wildlife Fund is active in proposing MPAs for the High Seas.
