Morse Pond School

Elementary School in the Falmouth School District, Massachusetts, USA

Morse Pond School is a 5th and 6th grade school with a student population for 2008-2009 of approximately 590 students. The middle years for students are a wonderful time full of changes and growth. The first step, coming to Morse Pond School, is a time of transition when students from the four Falmouth elementary schools are integrated for grades 5 & 6.

Morse Pond aligns curriculum to the Massachusetts State Frameworks. We offer English Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics and Science as our core subjects and many specials: Physical Education, Health, Computers, Art, Music and Library Studies. These classes provide students the opportunity to grow intellectually, socially and emotionally. Our goal is to make sure all students are healthy, safe, engaged, supported and challenged.

Our school community is child-centered where collaborating in teaching and learning is valued. We strive for continuous improvement in teaching and learning through clear communication, providing challenging age-appropriate projects/activities, fostering selfdiscipline and empowering students to be independent. We support curiosity, creativity, active learning, and strive for intrinsic motivation and reflection. With this in mind, there are several programs provided to create an opportunity for personal growth: Special Education Services and Programs, Program for Motivated and Talented students, Peace Builders, Student Council, Enrichment Periods, After School Activities Program, MCAS tutoring, National Seashore Program for 5th grade students, and the Instructional Support Team, In addition, we have a PTO, School Council, Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS) and many Morse Pond Community Service Projects.
