R/V Oceanus Shipboard Computing: Data Collection

Underway data collection is handled by a number of computers and custom software programs.  A central data collection program called 'Calliope' collects, logs, and distributes the data.

Data can be accessed in real-time via UDP broadcasts or serial connection.  A number of 'J-Boxes' (wiring jumper boxes) are located throughout the ship.

The ship makes daily and weekly backups of the underway data.  If you need more frequent backups, we recommend that your bring your own backup computer and software.
