Welcome to Mr Porto and Mr Laquidara's physical science classes. Students at the Lawrence School are in the early stages of their studies of physical science. The year began with a comparison of mass and volume, which has currently brought us to a unit on density. Each class has approximately 18 students. Several times each week, we spend time sharing and discussing examples of scientific research and fun examples of new discoveries that occur to help students recognize that science occurs not just in the classroom, but in so many places around the world. As a result, we are looking forward to making new discoveries in physical science and technology through our connection with WHOI! Hello Lawrence Middle School, We decorated 3 12oz cups for your 8th grade class. We sent one down to 4276 m (4.276 km, 4.66 miles) on station 61 at 30.08S 176.5E in the South fiji Basin. We sent two down into the Kermadec Trench to 6000 m. Look at the before and after differences. Can you make sense of them? Check out our general comments on the cups size and Styrofoam.
