The good weather has returned and we woke today to find that the wind has backed and the seas are calm. We arrived on station this morning and began taking measurements: the rosette made its first cast down to 650 meters, the turbulence instrument - a Rockland Scientific, Inc. VMP 500 - is ready to go in the water, and the main lab is busy processing the first water samples. Elsewhere on the ship equipment is unpacked and prepared for the stations ahead.
